Zonie may know something I don’t about the model, but in my 13 years of experience a DVD or CD ROM should never need drivers installed and any time I’ve seen one indicate it needs drivers or that the drivers are corrupt has shown that the device itself is bad if not the cable that connects it to the motherboard is bad. Did this solve your problem? I once had a no-name brand DVD player and it failed within 6 months. So if you are comfortable fixing the machine yourself then I would go with the internal.

At least, I’m hoping I don’t have to. I dvdraam seen where the automated fix wouldn’t repair the issue, but doing it the old fashioned way in the registry worked.

You can dvrdam a System Restore back to before this happened which might help. Anyways, I have a few questions: Thank you so much for your guidance.
